M&C Saatchi wins Sirens round two

11 Aug 16
M&C Saatchi has won round 2 of the Siren Awards with a thought-provoking ad for the St Vincent de Paul Society that takes a fresh approach to the social issue of homelessness. The touching ad, titled “Bedroom”, uses the voice of a young child bidding good night to inanimate objects surrounding her to communicate the twist that she is homeless and sleeps in a car.

17 Mar 16 An Aldi ad by BMF titled “El Toro Macho” has won round five overall and the single category in the 2016 Siren Awards. The ad features a liquor distiller from Spain speaking English and a culturally insensitive translator.

Unscripted ad by Matt Dickson wins Sirens round four

02 Dec 15 Radio creative director Matt Dickson, winner of the Gold Siren for 2015, is the overall winner of round four of the 2016 Siren Awards. Dickson, from Southern Cross Austereo, won the overall and single award for his unscripted ad “Dutch Oven”, which features a husband annoying his wife by farting in bed and then being unapologetic about it.

Marketforce’s “Loading” wins Sirens round one

11 Jul 15 Guy Hamilton Howlett and Neil Martin from Marketforce Perth have won the single ad category and round one overall of the Siren Awards 2016, with a radio ad for iiNet called “Loading.”   The ad promotes iiNet’s new super-fast cable internet and uses a voice and two sentences to recreate the experience of waiting for your internet to load.  [more] file type .pdf

We Don't Do Husbands campaign wins Gold Siren Award

14 May 15 An ad campaign promoting Allpest has won the 2015 Gold Siren award for the best radio advertising of the year.  The three ads in the campaign “We Don’t Do Husbands”, by Matt Dickson, Creative Solutions Director at Southern Cross Austereo Perth, also took out the Silver Siren award in the Radio Campaign category.

Radio ads for the Australian Open Tennis have aced Round 5 of the Siren Awards, taking out the overall win, the single, craft and campaign categories.  The single ad “Ball of Fire” by Cummins&Partners creative team, Chris Ellis and Aaron Lipson, used audio from a miniature microphone attached to a tennis ball served at 234 km, to take radio listeners closer to the tennis action.
